ABOUT US

Peter and Denise have been professional sculptors since 1987.
After graduating in Sculpture from Camberwell School of Art in London they undertook three years of training in India learning about traditional Tibetan art and training with master craftsmen there. This was followed by a period of nine years during which they worked on a series sculpture commissions in the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, India & Nepal. In 2000 they based themselves in the UK, establishing a studio in Dorset and in 2016 they moved their home and workshop to Lavaur in Southern France where they continue to work by commission.

Much of Denise and Peter Griffin’s work is religious in nature, following the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and they have worked on many large statues for Tibetan Buddhist temples around the world.

In 1997 The Maitreya Project commissioned Denise and Peter to build the prototype for a huge bronze statue of Buddha Maitreya which will soon begin construction in India. The original life-sized statue will be scaled up to create a 200ft high statue in Kushigagar India.

As well as their religiously based work Denise and Peter have completed many public art projects, including stone carvings for public spaces and a series of work created for P&O’s cruise ship The Azura.

Whilst in the UK they developed the product design side of their business and invested CAD/CAM machinery for their workshop. During this time they worked with many companies within the interior design, leisure and giftware markets, as well as developing their own range of three dimensional objects the high end interior-design market aimed at restaurants, hotels and private clients.

Now based in France, Denise and Peter are currently working on an elaborately carved Gateway for Amitabha Buddhist Centre in Singapore, as well as a 4m high statue which will be shipped to the UK in 2019.
